San Marino and Leichenstein two microstates in the map of Europe

It was a long wait, but the wait is finally over for the citizens of San Marino. San Marino tasted victory after 20 years at international football defeating Leichenstein by 1-0 in the UEFA Nations League D on 5 September 2024. Coincidentally, their only other win in their international football history is also against Leichenstein by same scoreline.

San Marino is a microstate surrounded by Italy. It has a population of around 34,000 in 2023 and an area of 61 km2. It is the fifth smallest country in the world by area. Goal scorer in the match was Sensoli who was not born when they tasted their victory. Currently they stand last at 210th in FIFA World Rankings. Though they are ranked last, they are probably not the worst team in the world because they have to compete with European powerhouses.

You can see anything happen if you watch enough football.
