On 19 September, 2023, Ivan Provedel, goalkeeper of Lazio scored his teams equalizer at 95th minute against Atletico Madrid and became second goalkeeper to score from open play in UEFA Champions League. Sinan Bolat is the first goalkeeper to score from open play in UCL. His milestone is against AZ Alkmaar for Standard Liege in 2009. Due to the nature of game unveils, a goalkeeper comes out exposing his goal at the final stage of the game. Bolat too scored his goal at 95th minute. Coincidentally, both were headers and scored at 5th minute of added time.
These are rare goals to be celebrated and happened after 14 years from first goal. How long, we will have to see another one in UCL?
