On 28th of January, 2024, Marie-Louise Eta became first woman to take charge of a men's team in Bundesliga fixture. She was serving as an assistant coach to Union Berlin, stepped in for head coach Nenad Bjelica who was serving a three game ban. Her team won by 1-0 against Darmstadt. Eta started her football career as footballer at age of 17. She has won UEFA champions league with Turbine Potsdam in 2010 and 3 consecutive Bundesliga between 2009-2011. She hung her boots at age of 26 and pursued coaching career.

Women are breaking barriers in different fields including football. We have witnessed women referee in FIFA world cup 2022, in English Premier League. Eta's accomplishment is another milestone in the involvement of women in football.
